House Resolution 47

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE WEIR ATTENDANCE CENTER LIONS FOOTBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 1996-1997 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE 1A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. 

WHEREAS, the Weir Attendance Center Lions Football Team finished the 1996-1997 season with an outstanding record of 14 wins and 0 losses; and

WHEREAS, the Lions did very well in the state playoffs this year, winning the 1A State Championship, the North Half Championship and the District Championship; and

WHEREAS, many individual honors have been bestowed upon various team members in recognition of their fine, dedicated play, including the naming of Dicenzo Miller to All-State Defensive Back; and

WHEREAS, the Lions have been well coached and inspired by Head Coach Joe Gant and Assistance Coach Junior Graham, who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, the Lions have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect a great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to their school; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Weir Attendance Center Lions Football Team and their coaches, Head Coach Joe Gant and Assistant Coach Junior Graham, for their outstanding 1996-1997 season, for winning the State Championship, and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Weir Attendance Center, Head Coach Joe Gant and Assistant Coach Junior Graham.
