House Resolution 29

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE HARRISON CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL RED REBELETTES BASKETBALL TEAM FOR THEIR PHENOMENAL 1996-1997 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE CLASS 5A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. 

WHEREAS, the Harrison Central High School Red Rebelettes Basketball Team finished the 1996-1997 season with an awesome record of 33 wins and only 4 losses; and

WHEREAS, the Red Rebelettes have won twelve Class 5A State Championships in the past 25 years; and

WHEREAS, the Red Rebelettes have won three consecutive Class 5A State Championships, including winning the 1997 Class 5A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, the Red Rebelettes Team consists of a group of dedicated and superior basketball players, including Shuntaye Batson, Shawanda Bester, Alicia Bogan, April Brown, Tanyanisha Callahan, Ashanti Crosby, Wanda Farmer, Telekia Grubbs, Laticia Johnson, Shauna Malley, Lori Meshew, Porsha Tims and Brandi Walters; and

WHEREAS, the Red Rebelettes have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach David Lipscomb and Assistant Coach Tommiesene Beasley, who have broadened the Rebelettes' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, the Red Rebelettes have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect a great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Harrison Central High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we commend and congratulate the Harrison Central Red Rebelettes Basketball Team and Coach Lipscomb, for their phenomenal 1996-1997 season and for winning the State 5A Championship, and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Harrison Central High School, Coach David Lipscomb and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
