House Resolution 25

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING GNB TECHNOLOGIES FOR ITS CONTRIBUTIONS TO NET DAY. 

WHEREAS, in 1997 GNB Technologies made the largest contribution ever received for NET Day; and

WHEREAS, NET Day is a day on which public schools and public libraries are wired for computers; and

WHEREAS, truly dedicated to the youth of Mississippi, GNB Technologies has committed to being an adopt-a-school sponsor; and

WHEREAS, GNB Technologies has been contributing to Florence, Mississippi, and Rankin County, Mississippi, for many years; and

WHEREAS, GNB Technologies has made contributions to many civic organizations such as the Florence Area Men's Association Projects, the Florence Youth Association, the Florence Police Department, the Florence Fire Department, the Monterey Fire Department, the Wesley College, the Florence Cheerleaders, the Florence Booster Club, the S. W. Rankin Soccer League, the Tri-County Jaycees, the Florence Baseball and Softball Leagues, the Florence Day/Mayor's Prayer Breakfast, T-Ball, the Mississippi Sheriffs' Association Drug Free Program, the Mississippi Association of Chiefs of Police, the Florence Lions Club, the Sunnybrook Children's Home, the Florence Middle School "Creating World Class Readers," the Florence PTO, the United Way, Falcon Crest, the Adopt-a-Family Program, the Fireman's "Smokehouse" School Training Program and Earth Day Tree Planting; and

WHEREAS, eager to serve in the community, the following are employees of GNB Technologies who participated in NET Day: Area Manager Roger Howell, Dianne Watts, Doug Irvin, Tommy Eady, Allen Cook, Joe O'dell and J.T. Morgan; and

WHEREAS, GNB Technologies spends $24 million a year in the community for salaries, repairs and renovations of local buildings, and for equipment; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Mississippi House of Representatives to commend Mississippi corporations who have demonstrated a desire to help our communities and our youth:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we commend GNB Technologies for its tremendous contribution and efforts in making NET Day a success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to GNB Technologies and to members of the Capital Press Corps.
