A RESOLUTION COMMENDING HIS EXCELLENCY RAMTANE LAMAMRA, AMBASSADOR OF ALGERIA.
WHEREAS, His Excellency Ramtane Lamamra was born on June 15, 1952, in Amizour, Bejaia, Algeria; and
WHEREAS, His Excellency Ramtane Lamamra graduated in 1976 from the Diplomatic Section, "Ecole Nationale d'Administration", Algiers; and
WHEREAS, His Excellency Ramtane Lamamra is the result of a truly cosmopolitan upbringing and has world-wide experience and education, also speaks Arabic, French and English; and
WHEREAS, His Excellency Ramtane Lamamra has also received Diplomatic Training at the Algerian Embassy in Moscow, served as the Third Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Algiers, Second Secretary in the Legal and Consular Department for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Algiers, Head of the United Nations Political Affairs Desk, First Secretary then Counsellor in charge of Legal Affairs Permanent Mission of Algeria to the United Nations in New York, Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs -Algiers, Deputy Director for the United Nations and Disarmament Affairs and Director of the "Press and Information" Department and Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Algiers; and
WHEREAS, His Excellency Ramtane Lamamra also serves in positions of leadership in the international political arena, including being a Member of the Algerian Delegation to the United Nations General Assembly from the 34th to the 45th Session, Head of the Algerian Delegation to the first part of the 45th Session and the 48th, 49th and 50th Sessions of the United Nations General Assembly, Member of the Algerian Delegation to the Law of the Sea Conferences, Member of the Algerian Delegation to the Organization of African Unity, the Arab League, Islamic Conference, OPEC and Non-Aligned Movement Ministerial Meetings and Summits of Heads of States and Government, and also Head of the Algerian Delegation to UNLCA and OAU Ministerial Conferences; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to commend excellence and leadership, especially when it is exhibited by one operating on an international level of world leadership:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend His Excellency Ramtane Lamamra, Ambassador of Algeria, for his many years of international leadership.
BE IT RESOLVED FURTHER, That copies of this resolution be furnished to His Excellency Ramtane Lamamra and the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
