A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING REVEREND STEVIE C. DUNCAN UPON BEING SELECTED AS PASTOR OF KING SOLOMON MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH. 

WHEREAS, Reverend Stevie C. Duncan will be installed as the new Pastor of King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church in Vicksburg, Mississippi, on April 27, 1997; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Duncan succeeds Reverend B.L. Thomas, who served as Pastor of King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church for 52 years; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Duncan received a degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern Mississippi, a degree in Computer Science with emphasis in Artificial Intelligence from Jackson State University and a degree in Theology with emphasis in Pastoral Ministries from Wesley Biblical Seminary; and

WHEREAS, a devoted husband and father, Reverend Duncan has been married to the lovely Marietta Duncan for 11 years and they have two children, Soniael Nicole and Brittany Christian; and

WHEREAS, under Reverend Duncan's spiritual vision and leadership, the congregation has already taken on many new ventures such as refurbishing the chairs in the pulpit, painting the entire interior of the church and attempting to secure a new sound system for the church; and

WHEREAS, under Reverend Duncan's divine direction, King Solomon is growing spiritually and physically, and membership is expected to increase through the scriptural guidance with which Reverend Duncan will lead his flock; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to commend the great citizens of the State of Mississippi who have given their lives in serving God and their fellowman:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Reverend Stevie C. Duncan upon being selected as the Pastor of the King Solomon Baptist Church and wish him continued success in all of his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Reverend Stevie C. Duncan and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
