A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING LEANN RIMES FOR HER PHENOMENAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY AND FOR WINNING TWO GRAMMY AWARDS. 

WHEREAS, a native Mississippian, LeAnn Rimes was born in Pearl, Mississippi, and is the daughter of Wilbur and Belinda Rimes; and

WHEREAS, LeAnn was nominated for two Country Music Association Awards; performed at the Grand Ole Opry; attended a White House Christmas celebration; and her album, "Blue," has gone triple-platinum in the United States, triple-platinum in Australia, platinum in Canada and gold in England; and

WHEREAS, in March 1997, LeAnn will be going to Australia for a 16-day performance tour; and

WHEREAS, LeAnn won two 1996 Grammy Awards, which is considered the music industry's highest honor; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize the accomplishments of the great citizens of the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we hereby commend and congratulate LeAnn Rimes for her phenomenal accomplishments in the music industry and wish her continued success in all of her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to LeAnn Rimes and to the Capitol Press Corps.
