A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING FEDERALLY EMPLOYED WOMEN, INCORPORATED, FOR SPONSORING THE 1997 SOUTHEAST REGIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM. 

WHEREAS, a few months after the issuance of Executive Order 11375 in 1968, a group of federal women from all over the country met in Washington, D.C., at the third three-day "Seminar for Women Executives," sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture; and

WHEREAS, Federally Employed Women, Incorporated (FEW), is a nonprofit membership organization solely committed to eliminate sex discrimination and sexual harassment and enhance career opportunities for women in government; and

WHEREAS, some specific activities of FEW are to increase job opportunities for women in government service, further the use of the potential of women in government, develop and provide training programs which address the special needs and problems of women employees in government, and to educate the general public and policymakers about issues of concern to women with an emphasis upon those of concern to women government employees; and

WHEREAS, FEW is now a worldwide organization with chapters in 42 states and seven foreign countries and is the only organization solely dedicated to the removal of sex discrimination and promotion of equality in the Federal Government; and

WHEREAS, Federally Employed Women, Incorporated, River City Chapter #362 in Vicksburg, Mississippi, will be sponsoring the 1997 Southeast Regional Training Program in Vicksburg, Mississippi, April 8 - 10, 1997, which will feature some of the most experienced and knowledgeable lecturers on leadership, employment, sexual harassment, financial planning, health, lobbying, educational opportunities, career advancement, stress management, image awareness and workplace diversity; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to commend leadership excellence, especially when it is exhibited by the women of this state who are truly serving as role models for future generations of women leaders:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend Federally Employed Women, Incorporated, River City Chapter #362, for sponsoring the 1997 Southeastern Regional Training Program.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Federally Employed Women, Incorporated, River City Chapter #362, and the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
