A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION TO COMMEND KARI LITTON UPON BEING CROWNED MISS MISSISSIPPI. 

WHEREAS, Kari Litton of Pontotoc was crowned Miss Mississippi in Vicksburg on July 13, 1996; and

WHEREAS, Kari represented the State of Mississippi in the 1996 Miss America Pageant, finishing as a Top Ten semifinalist; and

WHEREAS, as Miss Mississippi, Kari has promoted breast cancer awareness through the program A.W.A.A.R. (All Women Are At Risk); and

WHEREAS, before being crowned Miss Mississippi, Kari Litton was selected Miss North Mississippi 1992, Miss Pontotoc 1993, Miss Mississippi State University 1994, Miss Dixie 1995, Miss New South 1996, Miss Mississippi Top Ten Finalist in 1992 and 1993, Miss Mississippi First Runner-up in 1994 and Miss Mississippi Second Runner-up in 1995; and

WHEREAS, Kari Litton also received numerous awards and honors while a student at Pontotoc High School, Itawamba Community College and at Mississippi State University; and

WHEREAS, Kari Litton has been supported by a loving family and her parents, Elton and Bonnie Litton, and her brother, Brad Litton, have cause for great pride and familial accomplishment through Kari's reign as Miss Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to recognize and commend the exemplary accomplishments of outstanding Mississippi citizens:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Kari Litton on her selection as Miss Mississippi 1996 and extend our best wishes to her in her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Kari Litton and to the Capitol Press Corps.
