A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING ANNETTE EVANS AUSTIN FOR LEADERSHIP AS A BLACK BUSINESSWOMAN. 

WHEREAS, Annette Evans Austin chose her direction in life early and in pursuit of her lifelong goals of business leadership attended Mississippi State University from 1975 to 1977 majoring in prenursing, then two years later she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Mississippi School of Nursing, and to fulfill her desire for business education acumen, in 1996 she earned an Executive Masters Business Administration Degree from Louisiana State University; and

WHEREAS, Annette Austin's career history is filled with experiences that laid an extremely stable and solid foundation for her future success as a businesswoman in the health services field, including her stints as a staff nurse at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, nursing supervisor at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, Director of Nursing at the Albermarle Health Care Center, and Director of Nursing at Americare Health Services, Incorporated; and

WHEREAS, all of Annette Austin's previous experience in the health services industry was used advantageously to catapult her to the very echelon of the health care industry, where she today holds the prestigious and demanding position of Chief Executive Officer/Administrator of Health Care Options, Incorporated, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she currently administers, directs and coordinates the operations of that major home health care corporation; and

WHEREAS, Annette Austin is affiliated with several prestigious professional organizations, including the Oncology Nurses Association of Louisiana, the National Association of Home Health Agencies, the Louisiana Association of Home Health Agencies, Who's Who in Executives and Professionals and also serving as editor of "Heartline"; and

WHEREAS, Annette Austin has to her credit numerous accomplishments, both business as well as benevolent, some of which include being a recipient of the YMCA Woman of Achievement Award, Trustee of Mount Zion First Baptist Church, being chosen "Top 40 Under 40" by the Baton Rouge Business Report, selected Karamu Top Businesswoman of the Year, National Association of Home Care Administrator of the Year and the Baton Rouge Business Report's Young Businessperson of the Year, 1996; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to commend excellence, especially when it is exhibited in the business arena by those corporate leaders that have true concern for and commitment to the people in the community which the business serves:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend Annette Evans Austin for her leadership as a Black businesswoman.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Annette Evans Austin and the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
