House Concurrent Resolution 84

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE CLINTON HIGH SCHOOL LADY ARROWS SOCCER TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 1996-1997 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. 

WHEREAS, the Clinton High School Lady Arrows Soccer Team finished the 1996-1997 season with an outstanding record of 15 wins and 1 loss; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Arrows did very well in tournament play this year, winning the Northwest Rankin Tournament and the State Soccer Championship with a dramatic 2-1 victory over the defending champion, Vicksburg's Missy Gators; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Arrows have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Tonny Ratliff and Assistant Coach Jana Carter, who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Arrows have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect a great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Clinton High School; and

WHEREAS, the members of the Clinton High School Lady Arrows Soccer Team are Mandy Arledge, Erin Bishop, Blair Blasingame, Leigh Carter, Kelli East, Manager Ashley Garriga, Lauren Hancock, Lindsey Hazelwood, Beth Hopkins, Ginger Hutchinson, Jane Halbert Jones, Courtney Lancaster, Chiali Lee, Manager Elle Mitchell, Jessica Moore, Carrie Miller, Manager Katie Newman, Denae Sellari, Tiffany Sherman, Leanne Smith, Kim Thompson, Evelina Thorsen, Kelly Williams and Wendy Young; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Clinton High School Lady Arrows Soccer Team and their coaches, Tonny Ratliff and Jana Carter, for their outstanding 1996-1997 season, for winning the state championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Clinton High School, Coach Tonny Ratliff and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
