House Concurrent Resolution 72
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING COACH HARRY BROWN FOR WINNING ONE HUNDRED FOOTBALL GAMES.
WHEREAS, Harry Brown was born in West, Mississippi, and graduated from William Sullivan High School in Durant, Mississippi, in 1961, where he received All-Conference honors in football and basketball; and
WHEREAS, Harry Brown graduated from Alcorn State University in 1965 and was All-Conference in the Southwestern Athletic Conference in football and baseball; and
WHEREAS, Harry Brown served in the Army of the United States of America after college and received numerous decorations, including the Bronze Star; and
WHEREAS, the Humphreys County School District did, in 1968, secure the services of Harry Brown as assistant coach for the Humphreys County School in Belzoni; and
WHEREAS, Harry Brown served in that position until 1980 when he was given the position of Head Football Coach; and
WHEREAS, Harry Brown worked with the City of Belzoni Park Commission for many years providing leadership and coaching that touched hundreds and hundreds of young lives; and
WHEREAS, Harry Brown won his "one-hundredth game" as Head Football Coach for the Humphreys County Cowboys:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend Coach Harry Brown on winning one hundred football games.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Coach Harry Brown and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
