House Concurrent Resolution 39

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION PROPOSING TO AMEND THE MISSISSIPPI CONSTITUTION OF 1890 BY ADDING A NEW SECTION ESTABLISHING THE RIGHT TO HUNT AND FISH AS A CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That the following amendment to the Mississippi Constitution of 1890 is proposed to the qualified electors of the state:

Amend the Mississippi Constitution of 1890 by adding a new section to read as follows:

"SECTION ____. All persons shall have the right to hunt and fish in this state in accordance with law and regulations.

This amendment shall be known as the Sportsperson's Bill of Rights."

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this amendment shall be submitted to the qualified electors at an election to be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday of November 1997, as provided by Section 273 of the Constitution and by law.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the explanation of this proposed constitutional amendment for the ballot shall read as follows: "This amendment makes hunting and fishing constitutional rights in Mississippi, subject to applicable laws and regulations."
