AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO DESIGNATE DREDGE MATERIAL DISPOSAL AREAS IN THE COUNTY IN ORDER TO ENHANCE COMMERCE, INDUSTRY AND SPORT FISHING IN JACKSON COUNTY; TO PROVIDE THAT ANY SUCH DESIGNATION BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MUST COMPLY WITH ALL FEDERAL AND STATE ENVIRONMENTAL LAWS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. (1) For the purpose of enhancing commerce, industry and sport fishing in Jackson County, Mississippi, the Board of Supervisors of Jackson County, in its discretion, is authorized to designate certain property located in Section 14, Township 7 South, Range 8 West, in Jackson County, Mississippi, as a dredge material disposal area. However, no such designation shall be valid unless it complies with all federal and state environmental laws.

(2) In addition to the authority granted in subsection (1) of this section, the board of supervisors shall have the authority to designate other dredge material disposal areas in Jackson County if the board deems such action to be necessary. Any such designation must comply with all federal and state environmental laws.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
