AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING FUNDING TO THE BILOXI TRICENTENNIAL COMMISSION FOR THE BILOXI TRICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1998. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Department of Economic and Community Development for the purpose of providing funding to the Biloxi Tricentennial Commission for operating expenses of the commission in conducting the Biloxi Tricentennial Celebration, for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1997, and ending June 30, 1998. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .$2,000,000.00.

SECTION 2. It is the intention of the Legislature that the Biloxi Tricentennial Commission shall repay the State of Mississippi all or any part of the money appropriated by this act with any funds that are deemed excess after all operating expenses associated with the Biloxi Tricentennial Celebration are paid. The funds repaid to the State of Mississippi under this section shall be paid into the State General Fund.

SECTION 3. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1997.
