House Bill 1736

AN ACT MAKING AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION OF SPECIAL FUNDS IN THE STATE TREASURY FOR THE FEDERAL MATCH REQUIREMENT, SUPPORT AND MAINTENANCE OF THE BREAST AND CERVICAL CANCER GRANT WITHIN THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH FOR FISCAL YEAR 1997 AND FISCAL YEAR 1998. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

 

SECTION 1. In addition to all other sums heretofore appropriated, the following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in any special fund in the State Treasury to the credit of the State Department of Health for the purpose of making available the required match of state funds for the federal Breast and Cervical Cancer Grant within the department during the remainder of fiscal year 1997 and for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1998, and ending June 30, 1998 $228,176.00

SECTION 2. Of the funds appropriated under the provisions of Section 1, not more than the amounts set forth below shall be expended for the respective major object or purpose of expenditure:

MAJOR OBJECT OF EXPENDITURE:

Breast and Cervical Cancer Grant:

State Matching Funds $228,176.00

Federal Grant Funds $684,528.00

Total $912,704.00

SECTION 3. This additional appropriation is made for the purpose of providing the necessary state matching funds in order to draw the federal grant funds and the expenditure authority for the application and implementation of the federal Breast and Cervical Cancer Grant to be operated by the Mississippi State Department of Health. The purpose of the grant is to establish a breast and cervical cancer screening and follow-up program which was approved by the federal granting agency, effective October 1, 1996.

SECTION 4. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the proper special funds to the credit of the State Department of Health, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

SECTION 5. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
