AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 25-3-33, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO DELETE THE PROVISION WHICH SETS THE ANNUAL SALARY OF THE COMMISSIONER OF BANKING AND CONSUMER FINANCE; TO AMEND SECTION 81-1-69, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT THE GOVERNOR, SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE STATE PERSONNEL BOARD, SHALL SET THE ANNUAL SALARY OF THE COMMISSIONER OF BANKING AND CONSUMER FINANCE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Section 25-3-33, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

25-3-33. The annual salaries of the following appointive state and district officials and employees are hereby fixed as follows:

Deputy Attorney General, not to exceed............ 57,200.00

Assistant Attorneys General shall each receive

annual salaries in an amount to be

fixed by the Attorney General but

not to exceed................................ 52,800.00

Military Department - National Guard:

SECTION 2. Section 81-1-69, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

The salary of the commissioner * * * shall be fixed by the Governor at a level not less than the Deputy Commissioner, subject to the approval of the State Personnel Board, and shall be payable monthly out of the funds of the department.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1997.
