AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT CERTAIN PERSONS SHALL NOT RECEIVE A COPY OF A DEPOSITION UNLESS SUCH PERSONS PAY THE COURT REPORTER THE REQUIRED FEE; TO PROVIDE PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS BY ATTORNEYS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. (1) Except as provided in Section 9-13-27, or as otherwise ordered by a court of competent jurisdiction, no person shall receive a copy of a deposition unless such person pays the fee required to the court reporter who transcribed the deposition.

(2) Any attorney who obtains a copy of a deposition in violation of subsection (1) of this section is subject to disciplinary action under Section 73-3-301 et seq.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1997.
