AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 99-11-23, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT THEFT CASES SHALL BE TRIED IN THE COUNTY WHERE THE PROPERTY WAS STOLEN; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Section 99-11-23, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

99-11-23. Where property is stolen in another state or country and brought into this state, or is stolen in one county in this state and carried into another, the offender shall be indicted and tried in the county in which the property was stolen if the property is stolen in this state or in any county into or through which the property may have passed or be found if the property is stolen out of this state.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
