House Bill 309
AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT IT IS UNLAWFUL FOR ANY PERSON WHO IS EMPLOYED BY A COUNTY OR BY A MUNICIPALITY ON LESS THAN A FULL-TIME BASIS TO USE OR TO BE FURNISHED FOR USE ANY MOTOR VEHICLE OWNED OR LEASED BY THE COUNTY OR MUNICIPALITY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. It is unlawful and constitutes a misdemeanor for any person who is employed by a county or by a municipality on less than a full-time basis to use or to be furnished for use any motor vehicle owned or leased by the county or municipality, as the case may be. The provisions of this section shall not be construed to authorize use of a county-owned or municipally owned motor vehicle by any person for a purpose other than official business.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1997.
