House Bill 116

AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT A MUNICIPALITY MUST REQUIRE A CONTRACTOR TO HAVE A LICENSE BEFORE THE MUNICIPALITY AWARDS A CONTRACT OR ISSUES A BUILDING PERMIT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Before any contract for the construction, repair, alteration or demolition of any building, structure or facility is awarded or a building permit is issued to a contractor by a municipality, the governing authorities of the municipality shall require the contractor to have the proper license for such construction.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1997.
