AN ACT TO REQUIRE THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF STATE INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING TO ESTABLISH A LAW SCHOOL AT JACKSON STATE UNIVERSITY BY THE YEAR 2001; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning shall establish a school of law at Jackson State University at Jackson, Mississippi, by the year 2001. The board shall take all necessary and proper action for the implementation of this section, including, but not limited to, the appointment of a dean who shall study and recommend to the board an adequate staff, curriculum, resources and facilities and whose responsibility shall be to work with the Department of Finance and Administration in planning the construction and equipping of the school of law.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1997.
