Title: AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 83-9-3, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROHIBIT THE ISSUANCE OF HEALTH INSURANCE POLICIES THAT RESTRICT THE INSURER FROM ASSIGNING BENEFITS TO THE HEALTH PROVIDER; TO AMEND SECTION 83-9-5, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT IF THE INSURED PROVIDES THE INSURER WITH WRITTEN DIRECTIONS THAT THE BENEFITS PROVIDED BY A HEALTH INSURANCE POLICY SHALL BE PAID TO A HEALTH CARE PROVIDER RENDERING SERVICES, THEN THE INSURER SHALL PAY DIRECTLY THE HEALTH CARE PROVIDER; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
