Title: AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 31-7-13, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO INCREASE THE PERCENTAGE OF MINORITY SET-ASIDE CONTRACTS; TO AMEND SECTION 31-5-17, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO REQUIRE THAT BUSINESSES THAT ARE EMPLOYED BY ANY PUBLIC OFFICER, CONTRACTOR, SUPERINTENDENT, OR AGENT ENGAGED IN OR IN CHARGE OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF ANY STATE OR PUBLIC BUILDING OR PUBLIC WORK OF ANY KIND FOR THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI OR FOR ANY BOARD, CITY COMMISSION, GOVERNMENTAL AGENCY, OR MUNICIPALITY OF THE STATE EXISTED IN MISSISSIPPI FOR 12 MONTHS PRECEDING SUCH EMPLOYMENT; TO BRING FORWARD SECTIONS 31-5-19 AND 31-5-21, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, THAT RESTRICT THE AWARDING OF STATE CONTRACTS TO MISSISSIPPI BUSINESSES AND PROVIDE PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS FOR PURPOSES OF AMENDMENT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
