Title: AN ACT TO CREATE THE OFFICE OF DROPOUT PREVENTION WITHIN THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION; TO PROVIDE THAT THE STATE SUPERINTENDENT SHALL APPOINT A DIRECTOR OF THE OFFICE; TO AMEND SECTION 37-13-81, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PLACE THE OFFICE OF COMPULSORY SCHOOL ATTENDANCE ENFORCEMENT UNDER THE OFFICE OF DROPOUT PREVENTION; TO AMEND SECTION 37-13-83, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO REQUIRE THE DIRECTOR OF THE OFFICE OF COMPULSORY SCHOOL ATTENDANCE ENFORCEMENT TO REPORT DIRECTLY TO THE DIRECTOR OF THE OFFICE OF DROPOUT PREVENTION; TO AMEND SECTIONS 37-13-85, 37-13-89, 37-13-107, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, IN CONFORMITY; TO AMEND SECTION 37-7-301, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO REQUIRE EACH SCHOOL DISTRICT TO IMPLEMENT A DROPOUT PREVENTION PROGRAM BY THE 2008 SCHOOL YEAR; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
