Title: AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF MADISON, MISSISSIPPI, TO LEVY A TAX UPON THE GROSS SALES OF HOTELS AND MOTELS DERIVED FROM ROOM RENTALS AND UPON THE GROSS PROCEEDS OF SALES OF RESTAURANTS; TO PROVIDE THAT THE REVENUE FROM THE TAX SHALL BE EXPENDED BY THE CITY OF MADISON TO PROMOTE TOURISM, FOR CULTURAL AND ARTISTIC PURPOSES AND TO ENCOURAGE RETIRED PERSONS TO REMAIN IN OR RELOCATE TO THE CITY OF MADISON; TO PROVIDE THAT THE TAX SHALL BE COLLECTED BY THE STATE TAX COMMISSION AND PAID TO THE CITY OF MADISON; TO PROVIDE FOR AN ELECTION ON WHETHER THE TAX MAY BE LEVIED; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
