Title: AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 27-7-15, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF COMPENSATION RECEIVED BY A COMMISSIONED OFFICER IN THE ARMED FORCES FOR SERVICE IN A COMBAT ZONE OR WHILE HOSPITALIZED AS A RESULT OF WOUNDS, DISEASE OR INJURY INCURRED WHILE SERVING IN A COMBAT ZONE THAT IS EXCLUDED FROM THE MEANING OF "GROSS INCOME" FOR PURPOSES OF THE STATE INCOME TAX LAW; TO PROVIDE THAT A PORTION OF THE COMPENSATION RECEIVED BY A COMMISSIONED OFFICER IN THE ARMED FORCES FOR SERVICE IN A QUALIFIED HAZARDOUS DUTY AREA OR WHILE HOSPITALIZED AS A RESULT OF WOUNDS, DISEASE OR INJURY INCURRED WHILE SERVING IN A QUALIFIED HAZARDOUS DUTY AREA SHALL BE EXCLUDED FROM THE MEANING OF "GROSS INCOME" FOR PURPOSES OF THE STATE INCOME TAX LAW; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
