Title: AN ACT TO AMEND SECTIONS 37-7-301 AND 37-9-71, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO CLARIFY THE AUTHORITY OF SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENTS, PRINCIPALS AND SCHOOL BOARDS TO SUSPEND OR EXPEL PUPILS FOR CONDUCT THAT RENDERS A PUPIL'S PRESENCE IN THE CLASSROOM DETRIMENTAL TO THE SCHOOL'S EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT OR THE BEST INTEREST OF A CLASS AS A WHOLE; TO AMEND SECTION 37-13-92, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO AUTHORIZE THE REFERRAL OF SUCH PUPILS TO AN ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL PROGRAM; TO REQUIRE A DUE PROCESS COMMITTEE TO BE APPOINTED FOR EACH PUBLIC SCHOOL; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
