Title: AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 63-1-9, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO REMOVE THE AUTHORITY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY TO ISSUE A DRIVER'S LICENSE TO A PERSON WHO IS FIFTEEN YEARS OF AGE IN CERTAIN HARDSHIP CASES; TO PROVIDE THAT AN APPLICANT FOR A DRIVER'S LICENSE WHO IS UNDER SEVENTEEN YEARS OF AGE MUST PRESENT DOCUMENTATION TO THE COMMISSIONER OF PUBLIC SAFETY THAT THE APPLICANT HAS HELD A TEMPORARY DRIVING PERMIT FOR AT LEAST SIX MONTHS AND HAS ATTAINED CERTAIN BEHIND-THE-WHEEL EXPERIENCE; TO AMEND SECTION 63-1-21, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT A PERSON WHO HAS BEEN ISSUED A TEMPORARY DRIVING PERMIT OR A TEMPORARY MOTORCYCLE DRIVING PERMIT MAY OPERATE A MOTOR VEHICLE OR MOTORCYCLE UPON THE HIGHWAYS OF THIS STATE ONLY WHEN ACCOMPANIED OR SUPERVISED BY A LICENSED OPERATOR WHO IS AT LEAST TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF AGE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
