Title: AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 93-16-7, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT GRANDPARENTS MAY BE AWARDED VISITATION RIGHTS AFTER ADOPTION IF IT IS FOUND TO BE IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILD; TO AMEND SECTION 93-17-3, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE A REBUTTABLE PRESUMPTION THAT GRANDPARENTS ARE BETTER SUITED TO ADOPT A CHILD OVER NONRELATIVES; TO AMEND SECTION 93-5-23 AND 93-11-65, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT CUSTODY OF A CHILD MAY BE AWARDED TO A GRANDPARENT IF IT IS DETERMINED TO BE IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILD; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
