Title: AN ACT TO AMEND SECTIONS 27-39-303 AND 27-39-317, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT IN THE CASE WHERE, BECAUSE OF AN INCREASE IN THE ASSESSED VALUATION OF A COUNTY, THE AD VALOREM TAX MILLAGE RATE FOR THE CURRENTLY EXISTING FISCAL YEAR WILL GENERATE FUNDS FOR THE NEXT FISCAL YEAR IN AN AMOUNT GREATER THAN THE DOLLAR AMOUNT GENERATED BY THE AD VALOREM TAX EFFORT FOR THE CURRENTLY EXISTING FISCAL YEAR, THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF SUCH COUNTY SHALL BE REQUIRED TO REDUCE THE AD VALOREM TAX MILLAGE RATE FOR THE NEXT FISCAL YEAR SUCH THAT THE DOLLAR AMOUNT GENERATED BY THE AD VALOREM TAX EFFORT FOR THE NEXT FISCAL YEAR WILL NOT EXCEED THE DOLLAR AMOUNT GENERATED BY THE AD VALOREM TAX EFFORT FOR THE CURRENTLY EXISTING FISCAL YEAR; TO AMEND SECTIONS 27-39-203, 27-39-205, 27-39-320 AND 27-39-321, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO CONFORM TO THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ACT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
